Evie Launcher Review 2020
The world of Android-themed games is full of big, bold,
bombastic launchers, but the kitchen sinks into their features, bells and
whistles, but sometimes you don't need all the fun and pizzas. Sometimes, you
just want a light, light and luxurious launch. If you are in the market for a
sophisticated launch, the EV launch can earn its place as your next home screen
and as a free launcher, trying the Evie Launcher will cost you nothing.
Evie Launcher's default setting is surprisingly simple, with
only four apps at the bottom of the desktop and a permanent search bar at the
top. By default, the EV launcher dock is disabled, which undoubtedly separates
it from the package, but also causes the AVI dock icon to disappear when
importing a layout from another launch during the initial setup.
Another break with the tradition is Evie's default grid
size. 4x4 has been the standard since the 4-inch phone date, the default launch
of the UV launch is 5x6, and is willing to take any grid size from 3x4 to
12x12. With the extra tall screens coming back to normal, it's important to
have a large grid, as you'll need a few more lines to take advantage of that
real estate deal.
The search bar is a permanent part of the EV Launch Home
screen, and it displays one of two gestures that are permanently enabled: Swipe
down to search. I wish there was a toggle to switch from the search bar to the
notification shade - especially for the extra height screens I mentioned
earlier - but for now, it's a constant reminder that "Hey, you can find
things." That's great, Evie, but see who sent me a message!
The other permanent gesture is compatible with the Samsung
Galaxy line and Google Pixel: swipe on the desktop to open the app drawer, and
swipe from the top of the app drawer to go back to the desktop. There are two
ways to draw the application drawer: the traditional list style, or the more
customizable network layout.
Getting back to Evie's settings, you have a little bit more
customization than lightweight, fast-paced launches here. In addition to
setting up an icon package and setting up your app drawer grid, you can
activate our pool, unread badges or Android notification dots and activate some additional gestures.
Stronger gesture controls have been listed as "coming
soon" for over a year, but I strongly recommend that one of the gestures
still work: double-tap to unlock. There are two ways you can choose - like
launching Noah - a way to actually unlock the phone and a screen that unlocks
your phone via Smart Lock.
The Evie Launcher definitely looks promising, especially for
users who don't want the Google Now launch to be removed from Google Play.
(While it is still going on right?) While I wish it were better to import pool
elements, the launch has been steady and steady since the day we first reviewed
it. Once more strong gesture controls come to Evie, it should be a fairly
decent competitor in a crowded launch market, but it's no exception now.
